Alvarado Transportation Center, Downtown Albuquerque

Alvarado Transportation Center, Albuquerque
This photo shows an interior detail of the Alvarado Transportation Center, in downtown Albuquerque. This beautifully designed center is designed to be reminiscent of the old Alvarado Hotel, which it replaced in 2002. The Alvarado Transportation Center will soon be the hub for an exciting new light rail transportation, the NM Rail Runner Express. The Rail Runner will eventually have stations connecting Belen, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and points between.

Albuquerque Photo of the Day

Jemez Mountains Photo, New Mexico

They do not call New Mexico "The Land of Enchantment" for no reason! This photo, shot in late March, 2006, shows the dramatic beauty of the Jemez Mountains in northern New Mexico (about an hour from Albuquerque) when the light and landscape work together. This was an extraordinary afternoon. The sky was a deep blue with beautiful cloud formations. The afternoon sun provided a warmth and shadow that brought out the detail and color of the red rock landscape. Splendid!

I shot this photo on an expired roll of Kodak Gold 200 (expired 2/2002) using a 35 year old Minolta XG-M SLR camera purchased on Ebay for $40.00. The lens is a standard 50mm f1.4. I love how the film truly captures the drama of what I saw that afternoon.
