Photo: Red Tulips
This image of red tulips is without question the most popular photograph I have shot to date. Many prints of this have either been sold or given away. It is also the most commented on photo in my Flickr account. It was captured at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Oddly enough, it was created with the cheapest camera I’ve ever owned! When the photography bug first bit about four years ago, I purchased a scruffy, used Minolta X-700 DSR (film) camera and 50mm f1.4 lens for the bargain price of $50.00. To test the camera, I purchased a roll of Kodak 400 UC film (400 ASA) at my local Walmart. This photo was one of the first I shot with this roll of film, testing the camera. The results were beautiful! My one major purchase at that point was a Nikon Coolscan V film scanner (I wish I had never sold it) that was used to scan the negative for the digital file. You can tell its origins by the visible grain, yet the colors render very well. Purchase a 11×14 Special Edition Print of this image using the “Add To Cart” button below.
