There are some things you come to trust over time. In Albuquerque, I’ve come to trust that the food at Flying Star will always be good and consistent.
That’s important in an eatery that becomes a Sunday morning ritual for breakfast, or the default choice you make when you don’t want to make choosing a restaurant feel like work. The food is quite good here, and is always delivered with a bit of style. Bring a newspaper, choose your favorite table, fine tune your cup of “joe,” and settle in.
Flying Star serves creative American comfort food with a touch of flair in taste, texture and color that is also reflected in their cheerful and eclectic decor. There is an emphasis on quality ingredients, and a good selection of seasonal specials to add a bit of variety to the menu.
The desserts are potent eye candy, and taste as good as they look. Be forewarned, they will make you throw all caloric caution to the wind. If you skip the slice of cake or pie for dessert, your meal will generally fall within the AbqStyle.com “Good & Cheap” $15 limit. However, that irresistible slice of cake is a good reason to splurge on dessert. You will find that temptation well worth indulging (as I often do).
After numerous visits to Flying Star I can heartily recommend it for a meal any time of the day.
