This photo highlights one of the most intriguing places I have ever seen, Sedona, Arizona. It is a marvelous example of high desert at its finest! The colors and textures seem perfectly chosen for this landscape by a Master Designer. Imagine standing here on a balmy winter day . . . temperature in the high 70’s . . . a light breeze . . . what a delight for the senses! I had the privilege of spending many hours here when I lived in Phoenix. Needless to say, I do miss it! This photo was captured with my Nikon D40 and kit lens. Donald Peterson, photographer.

Photo: Sedona,Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock
Located a few miles south of Sedona, Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock (the formation to the left) are two of Sedona’s most popular landmarks. Both are popular hiking destinations, located the easily accessible Highway 179, a few miles south of Sedona. Courthouse Butte can be seen from almost anywhere in Sedona and looks like the profile of a human face gazing upwards from its top horizon. This photo shows one of Sedona, Arizona’s most popular landmarks, Courthouse Butte. This is the view from the Bell Rock Trail that runs adjacent to Highway 179. The high desert of Sedona is a veritable explosion of color and shapes that are an endless delight to the eye. Before visiting the southwest, I never realized that desert could be so beautiful and colorful! As a lifelong former New Yorker, being exposed to a place like Sedona for the first time is humbling. In a city like New York, you can easily become over-impressed with what men can build. All that pales into insignificance when you are immersed in God’s handiwork.
