Albuquerque, New Mexico Photos: Canadian Geese, Rio Grande Nature Center

This Albuquerque, New Mexico photo shows Canadian Geese at the Rio Grande Nature Center. This quiet preserve on Candelaria Road near Old Town, is a wonderful setting for observing migrating birds during the winter. It is quite popular with bird-watchers and is also a great place for an afternoon hike along Albuquerque’s Rio Grande.

I spent many pleasant afternoons in the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque photographing flowers and plants. There is something calming and restorative about being in a beautiful garden, and the Rio Grande Botanic Garden is as beautiful as they come in Albuquerque, New Mexico! Photo: Yellow Daisies at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden

This is a close-up of yellow daisies seen in the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It reflects one of my favorite techniques in flower photography: Using the colors of adjacent flowers to create blurred colors (bokeh) in the background. The blurred pink colors in the background are others flowers intentionally out of focus (by using a large aperture) to create a pleasing background for the foreground flowers.
