Albuquerque, New Mexico Photos: Rio Grande, Albuquerque, Sunset in Winter

These photos were captured along the Jemez Mountain Trail between Albuquerque and Santa Fe when I first lived in New Mexico a few years ago. My photography skills were exceeded by my exuberance. Yet, it is a joy to look at these photos and remember the delightful time I had exploring this region of the state.
The Jemez Mountain Trail, while possessing a quiet beauty, has an amazing range of natural features and attractions. A leisurely day trip on the Jemez Mountain Trail takes you past amazing geological formations, ancient Indian ruins, an Indian pueblo, and the remainders of the area’s logging, mining and ranching heritage. Much of the region is now a National Recreation Area with many opportunities for hiking, fishing, camping, cross-country skiing, or visiting a natural hot springs. There are may places to stop along the trail to explore. It is a delightful leisurely drive that takes about 2 hours by car.
I spent many pleasant afternoons in the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque photographing flowers and plants. There is something calming and restorative about being in a beautiful garden, and the Rio Grande Botanic Garden is as beautiful as they come in Albuquerque, New Mexico! This collection of photos, captured on film, are from a year’s worth of captures during my stay in Albuquerque. Hope you enjoy them. Canadian Geese enjoy their winter migration stopover at the Rio Grande Nature Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This quiet nature preserve is a great place to see migrating ducks in the winter.
