New Mexico Photos: Jemez, New Mexico in beautiful light

This New Mexico Photo shows a view of the red rock of Jemez Mountains, New Mexico adorned with beautiful sunlight. The Jemez is one of my favorite destinations in New Mexico, blessed with a amazing diversity of quietly beautiful natural features. This setting is from the red rock buttes on the Jemez Pueblo.

New Mexico Photo: Colorful clunkers seen in the Jemez Mountains, NM

This New Mexico photo shows a collection of rusted old clunkers in a small town in the Jemez Mountains, New Mexico. Sunset colors provided a mellow setting for these colorful rust buckets. New Mexico is, to my eye, the ideal backdrop for these beautiful old relics. The state has a landscape just perfect for these nostalgic settings. This photo was captured with a Pentax K100D and 50-200mm lens.

New Mexico Photos: Motorcycle Mama on a Harley Davidson, Madrid, NM

This New Mexico photo shows a “Motorcycle Mama” on a Harley Davidson in Madrid, New Mexico. It is just a sample of the inventive and creative streak that runs through Madrid, an artists’ commune and tourist attraction with a funky vibe. It’s a great place to stop for a burger, browse stylish folk art, and pick up a trinket or two.  It is one of the attractions found along the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway that runs between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Photo by Donald Peterson. Captured with a Nikon D40 and kit lens.

New Mexico Photos: Folk art, Madrid, New Mexico

This New Mexico photo shows a sample of the quirky, charming folk art seen in Madrid, New Mexico. Madrid, near Albuquerque, New Mexico on the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway, is a former mining town and later hippie commune that now serves as an artists commune and tourist attraction. It is chock full of quirky but interesting visual details and a great place to stroll, grab a light lunch and a souvenir. Photo captured with Nikon D40 and Nikon 55-200mm VR lens.
