The locals know where to eat. And when they want a big breakfast, they go to Weck’s.
On my first visit to Albuquerque more than a decade ago, I would often ask for recommendations on where to go for breakfast. The name Weck’s came up more often than any other, usually with descriptive terms like “lots of food,” or “a big breakfast.” Indeed Weck’s is a top choice if you want to start the day with a hearty breakfast, heavy on the home fries, eggs and pancakes with a dash of New Mexican flavorings thrown in.
One of the most popular breakfast dishes at Weck’s is Papas, a mountain of tasty home fries topped with cheeses, red/green chile, eggs, and a meat of your choice. If this does not fill you up, nothing will. The home fries are excellent, with just the right balance of crispiness and seasonings cooked in. And, yes, it is a mountain of goodness. You may need to share or take some home. One thing is for sure, you will never leave Weck’s hungry! This is a great place for a big weekend breakfast with the family. Honestly, I’ve never had lunch here. I like to start the day with a big meal and lighten things for lunch generally. Weck’s fits my need perfectly. This is my go-to place for breakfast comfort food, and lots of it.
