ABQ BioPark Up Close

BioPark Albuquerque

The New Mexico monsoon season for 2017 has been of great benefit to the ABQ BioPark, making for an exceptional display of lush flora. I have photographed some close-up photos of flowers on display this week at the BioPark Botanic Garden. I hope you enjoy them. This is a great time to visit the BioPark! If you are traveling to Albuquerque in the coming days and weeks, the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden should be on your list of attractions to explore.

This 36-acre botanical garden located at 2601 Central Avenue NW in Albuquerque, New Mexico, beside the Rio Grande. The garden showcases plants of the Southwest, and includes a 10,000-square-foot conservatory, formal themed gardens, and a demonstration garden. From mid-May through September, the PNM Butterfly Pavilion in the BioPark showcases hundreds of North American butterflies.

Heritage Farm depicts farm life along the Rio Grande in the 1920s and 1930s, and Colores offers delights in every season with blossoms, seed pods and interesting foliage. Opened in the fall of 2007, the Sasebo Japanese Garden features a 16-foot waterfall that tumbles into a large pond, surrounded by winding paths.

Be aware that for most of 2017 (and currently) there are traffic delays along Central Avenue due to major construction. It may add a bit of travel time… but it’s worth the effort!
